Composite Software Customers Win Recognition for Their Innovative Data Virtualization Initiatives

SAN MATEO, CALIF. — October 14, 2009 – Composite Software, Inc., a leading data virtualization software provider, recently awarded the innovative data virtualization initiatives of three of its customers: Pfizer, Inc., Husasmidjan and Compassion International. The customers received their awards at Composite Software’s Fourth Annual Customer Advisory Council (CAC), held last week in Philadelphia, Penn.
Pfizer, Inc. received the “Biggest Business Impact” award for integrating data across multiple core transactional systems and delivering it into a single information “portfolio” for use by a variety of business applications and users. The original “portfolio” developed using Composite was flexible enough to rapidly integrate the data sources of an acquired information system after a corporate merger.
Husasmidjan, a Scandinavian hardware store chain, was recognized for “Most Complex Data Abstraction.” This “Home Depot” of Iceland uses Composite Software data virtualization middleware to hide the complexity of underlying data sources and deliver necessary information in reports that are familiar and useful to human resources and payroll executives.
Non-profit organization “Compassion International” received recognition for “Most Rapid Deployment.” This Christian charitable organization that has helped match sponsors to more than one million needy children in 25 countries implemented Composite—in less than one hour—to deliver data in support of its social networking website used by its sponsors to communicate with each other.
Composite’s Director of Customer Value, Bob Reary, explained, “We introduced customer awards for the first time at this year’s CAC to applaud the creative ways our customers are increasing their return from corporate data investments using Composite’s data virtualization middleware, and to provide models for IT teams in global enterprises and public agencies hoping to imitate these successes.”
According to Reary, the 2009 CAC also featured use case presentations by a financial services organization, a federal agency, a media company and a non-profit organization. These Composite customers shared how they apply data virtualization to extend the value of their data warehouse investments and meet business intelligence requirements through speedy data delivery, service oriented architecture (SOA), IT cost savings, and development simplification. This year’s CAC attendance exceeded expectations, growing 40 percent over 2008 levels.
