COMPOSITE SOFTWARE ADDS NEW PARTNERS TO STRONG OEM BUSINESS

On-Demand Data Services Leader Launches OEM Program to Meet
Growing Demand for Embedding Its Award-Winning EII Technology

SAN MATEO, Calif. - May 22, 2006 – Composite Software, the leading provider of on-demand data services technology, today announced new OEM relationships with solution providers in life sciences and enterprise performance applications as well as a formal OEM program called “Powered by Composite.” Increasing demand over the last 12 months for embedding Composite’s data services technology, based on the company’s award-winning enterprise information integration (EII) technology, has prompted the company to formalize its OEM program.

Tripos, Inc., and Zero Delta join the growing list of OEM partners that include BMC Software, Inc.; Cognos Corp.; Informatica Corp., Hewlett-Packard Company and EDS. Tripos is the leading provider of drug discovery and informatics products and services. Composite’s technology will be the only on-demand data engine used in Tripos’ next-generation, drug-discovery IT solution, SMART-IDEA™. Biologists, chemists and project leaders using SMART-IDEA powered by the Composite Information Server (CIS) will be able to access and combine data from disparate repositories, and analyze it with an integrated palette of decision-support tools.

“Drug discovery is one of the numerous applications for pharmaceutical and life sciences companies that require on-demand information,” says Greg Smith, CTO of Tripos. “We went through a rigorous search and evaluation of technology to find the one that meets our extensive requirements for integrating multidisciplinary data sources. We chose Composite because it offers optimal capabilities for accessing, combining and delivering data on demand. We look forward to working with Composite to build future high-value solutions for our joint customers.”

Zero Delta is the pioneer of enterprise alignment methods and software. The company helps global enterprises tackle the challenges associated with aligning enterprise strategy with operational and execution activities. Zero Delta's Enterprise Alignment Software (EAS) solutions are based upon value-creation principles that leverage an integrated structure connecting a wide range of business and technology planning activities to the daily execution and management of a variety of business and technology assets and program portfolios. Zero Delta solutions enable the achievement of continuous alignment while optimizing value-creation opportunities throughout the enterprise. Composite Software technology will be a part of the Zero Delta OnDemand software solution.

“Our strategic relationship with Composite Software is very important to us,” comments Mark A. Benyovszky, CEO of the Zero Delta Center for Enterprise Alignment. “We see good synergies between our respective product solutions, which, when combined, will significantly enhance not only the quantity of information available to our enterprise business users, but also the data quality used as inputs into so many decision-making scenarios as well as the various analytics Zero Delta solutions perform in order to arrive at sound business decisions.”

“Powered by Composite” is designed for commercial application providers who build product solutions requiring on-demand data integration. The program supports on-premise (ISV), hosted (ASP), and outsourced (MSP) application providers. Composite’s products are optimized for embedding and include features such as a small footprint, easy embedded installation, and a metadata API that allows the core engine to be used without the standard design tool. In addition, the program offers:

  • Unique technology to unlock data from popular packaged applications including SAP and Siebel;
  • Specialized technical team for backline support;
  • Resources for training, knowledge transfer and development;
  • Flexible licensing to facilitate wide range of business models;
  • Volume-based pricing for licensing and support services; and
  • Cooperative marketing as appropriate.

“Today, commercial solution providers face the challenge of fitting into existing enterprise IT infrastructures and providing access to data typically stored in a wide array of data sources, with different access protocols, dissimilar formats and security requirements,” explains Composite’s OEM Director Pervaiz Choudhry. “We have specifically designed our solution to enable partners to provide out-of-the-box, on-demand data integration capabilities. By working with us, commercial solution providers are able to reduce the cost and complexity of their field integration efforts. In addition to providing easily embeddable technology, we are now introducing a comprehensive OEM program that offers flexible pricing, licensing and support modeling.”

Composite Software’s strong OEM business has been recognized by industry watchers such as David Stodder, editor-in-chief of Intelligent Enterprise magazine, who recently named the company a “2006 Company to Watch.” According to Stodder, “Composite had a lot to do with putting EII on the map; its technology is resold by larger providers, including Informatica.”
