Composite Discovery provides the simplest and fastest way to find and explore your enterprise data, and prepare the models needed by your downstream data integration and application development processes. Discovery not only finds the data you need, but it also automatically “discovers” critical relationships across the data and generates an integrated data model. The model allows you to access and show live data, making it easier for IT professionals to validate business requirements with end users. Finally, you can refi ne the model by adding and filtering data, then transfer it to your data integration environment or other consuming applications.

• Find structured data throughout an organization – regardless of location or source – quickly and easily using a search-like user interface. Even if data location is common knowledge, Discovery’s familiar search interface and tabular workspace simplify data examination.
  
• Discover relationships across data (both explicit and implicit) automatically. Relationships are the foundation of data models. Discovery reveals formal relationships such as primary and foreign key linkages within a single database, as well as informal linkages across disparate data sources.
  
• Refine relevant data and relationships using an easy-to-learn and use workspace. Add disparate data into the data model on the fly without coding. Filter unneeded data and rearrange relevant data into the desired model.
  
• Generate reusable data models for easy sharing across project teams.
  
• Validate data meets end user requirements by displaying your models in a browser or Excel. Show the user live data in a meaningful business context to assure requirements are fulfilled before starting costly development.
  
• Transfer model to downstream data integration environments and front-end applications. Views that require high-performance data federation could be transferred to the Composite Information Server to take advantage of query optimization capabilities before passing on to front-end applications.
